What is coffee?
Coffee is a plant of the genus “Coffea” which is further divided into its respective species. Within the various species, there are two that stand out and over the years have become the main species sold worldwide, namely Arabica and Canephora (Robusta). Currently, the Arabica species occupies a 60% share of the world market and, consequently, the Canephora species 40%. There are more than 100 species spread throughout the world, many of them wild and little explored.
Where is it planted?
Coffee originates from Ethiopia and is grown between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. This range has the ideal climatic conditions for growing this plant, such as high humidity and rainfall, altitudes between 200 m and 2000 m, and mild temperatures ranging from 15-29ºC.
How is it consumed?
Coffee began to be consumed involuntarily by animals, and according to their shepherds, a change in their behavior and an unusual joy and energy were noticeable. Thus, this plant began to generate a lot of interest and began to be consumed in different ways. Later, and after several years of research and constant evolution, coffee became what it is today, an essential part of our lives, especially in our mornings.
