Sustainability and coffee beans

Planet B is a long way away and it’s time to make choices that minimize our footprint on the environment.

By choosing whole bean coffee, you not only eliminate the need for capsule production, but you can also enjoy coffee in its purest form and experience all the aromas and sensations it provides. That's why we've decided to do our part and bring you a higher quality option with a lower environmental impact. All without adding to your coffee budget.

It is increasingly important to be aware of the negative impact that the coffee process has on our lives. It is estimated that the amount of plastic used in the manufacture of coffee capsules amounts to 56 billion tons per year. Another widely used material is aluminum, which also requires attention and sensitivity on the part of its users due to the abusive extraction of this material and all the energy required for its transformation. In addition, recycling capsules is still an unresolved problem that ends up, for the most part, in unsorted waste and, even worse, in our ecosystem, thus increasing the pollution of our planet.

By consuming specialty coffee, you are not only consuming superior quality coffee with unique characteristics, but you are also contributing to greater regulation of the production and sale of green coffee. Coffee regulated by the SCA follows strict policies and represents a flag of sustainability in terms of combating poverty, exploitation and child labor, equal rights and world peace. Each coffee farm is required to adopt strict policies to obtain the most diverse certifications, such as UTZ, Rainforest, Fairtrade, among others.

Additionally, and because it is not enough to just worry about the origin and the product, we also try to ensure that the packaging you receive at home every month is also “environmentally friendly”. Therefore, instead of opting for elegant and striking packaging, we prefer a sustainable solution that serves its purpose effectively, a biodegradable bag. We are aware that it does not create the same impact when receiving the product, but we choose to replace this momentary pleasure, lasting only a few minutes, with a reduction in its environmental footprint.

For all these reasons, we seek to respond to national and international sustainability policies, such as the 17 objectives for sustainable development defined in the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

And because we can't stop here, we will continue to improve our options every day, always with a sustainable mindset and without reducing the quality of your coffee.
